Born in Atlanta Georgia in 1973, Julie Powell has devoted that last ten years of her life to the pursuit of music. A composer, singer, songwriter, guitarist, pianist, and conductor, Powell discovered an unexpected talent for music while attending
Washington & Lee University and realized she had found her calling. As is often the case, her journey has not been direct, and the Lord has used Powellís wide experiences as a musician to prepare her for her current position as Worship Leader at Athens First United Methodist Church. It is here that Powell finally foundthe place of intersection between her faith and her talent. Her goal is best summarized in the chorus of a worship song she wrote:
I want to pour me out, so You can fill me up
I want to be a vessel for Your purpose Lord
I want to lay me down, so You can raise me up
A new creation in Your perfect love
